Chiropractic is a health science is based on the body’s inherent capacity to heal itself. By re-establishing your nervous system’s proper functioning, you can not only reduce pain, but you can also prevent further pain or other symptoms. In other words, chiropractic relies on the body’s ability to stay healthy without necessarily having to resort to surgery or medication. That said, your chiropractor will know when medical care is required and will be able to refer you to the right health professional to make sure you receive the care you need.

Chiropractic care focuses on neuro-musculo-skeletal issues, which implies that it can treat a problem a multiple levels at once.

Though at the core, its philosophy stems from the following axiom: the nervous system controls of the body’s systems, including one’s cells, tissues and organs. If its homeostasis– or natural equilibrium –is disturbed, then the nervous system will not function properly and health issues will develop.

The chiropractic approach is both corrective and preventive; it aims to relieve pain, but also to maintain your body’s normal equilibrium so that it can stay healthy and prevent many health problems.

It all started when I met Dr Martin Lamarre, chiropractor, who was practicing in Ville-Saint-Laurent, where I grew up. It’s as his assistant that I realized that chiropractic was a crossover between science, philosophy and the art of working with one’s hands.

A chiropractor can have a positive impact on their patients’ quality of life by improving their health, reducing pain and suffering, and by listening and getting to know them. This experience convinced my to enrol to become a doctor in chiropractic at l’Université du Québec in Trois Rivières (UQTR).

I’ve been practicing since September 2014 and am currently offering care in two Montreal clinics: Westmount Chiropractic clinic and Chiropractique Vieux-Montreal in the Old-Port.

I am also an administrator for Chiropractors Without Borders, a not-for-profit organisation that provides free chiropractic care in developing countries. I had the privilege to participate in two missions to Bolivia.
